My jewelry business plan completed for business class. I love graphic design. A lot.

Designer Fabric Outlet

Logotype re-design for the company Designer Fabric Outlet on Queen Street W. in Toronto. This was a project for Graphic Design class and was a blast to do. I'm currently creating revamped business cards and promo cards and will post them as soon as I'm finished.

flourish ~ warmth by the pier

Illustration completed for my thesis class for an article about the fashion brand Hollister. I decided to take a slightly different approach with this piece. I wanted the final to act as a T-shirt design, as well as an illustration that could accompany the article. I completed a second, bitmapped version of this piece to act as the T-shirt design.

Jewelry Design Side Project

As many of you know, I have a great interest in fashion which is shown in the majority of my work. I'm starting to branch into creating actual items to be worn.

I'm currently creating and selling handmade jewelry. A selection are currently for purchase as a fundraising effort toward our fourth year grad show. I have an Etsy account already made to sell these creations.

They are created using silk, wire, and recycled objects. They are within' the $15-20 range, so very affordable and environmentally friendly at that. In addition some are supporting not only my grad show year, but my entire cohort. If interested please contact me.

I'll update with the Etsy account as soon as items are listed.

Digging Deeper

Narrative assignment based around the concept of "digging deeper" within' ourselves as a theme. I chose the moment when I came out a couple of years ago because it was a very profound moment in my life. It's personal to me but I really wanted to share this side through my art. If I can help just one other person with accepting themselves then that's all that matters.

drowning in you

New comic from Visual Narrative class. This one focuses on a lesbian couple. I've never drawn a female couple before so I thought I'd give it a try. It was national coming out day recently and due to the bullying and suicides over homosexuality recently, I really wanted to create this as something to show others that they aren't alone. Love who you are and be who you are.

Thesis Painting Update

Here's a bigger, more updated preview of my first painting for my fourth year thesis project for Illustration class.

Haywire 3

Here is another cover for Haywire. I had another idea in my head and I couldn't resist giving it a try. I thought using white font for the title would be more fitting since I found the white string to be a main symbol of the book, representing both the purity and innocence of the child.

Haywire 2

Another cover design for Graphic Design class. I still have to do some tweaking, but this is a current cover idea.

Here is the story Haywire by Chuck Kensler to get a better idea of the concept for the covers.

Angie left Virgil - left the baby too. For the past five months Virgil's been planning for today's homecoming.

Angie says in her fidgety bird voice, "Lo, Virg. Ain't too gooda day is it? Waddyathink, Virg, waddayathing?"

"Not so good. She's in the other room."

A tear in the window shade angles light into a cardboard box where the baby lies dreamless. She is in her best clothes, as if dressed for a tea party. Virgil strokes her soft hair and pale cheek. He ties the lid closed with white string.

Then his mind explodes into a pile of loose hay.

What are you gonna do, beat me with your Jesus stick?

I'm really into the series LOST right now, and decided to play around with type. Charlie Pace is my favorite character on the show, who is compared to a moth in an early episode from season one (one of my favorite episodes). If you haven't watched the series you really, really should.

Moi dix Mois Poster Re-Design

I used to be really into a band called Moi dix Mois. I found out recently that they are releasing a new album this year. I came across a teaser poster for it (the first picture) and thought the design was pretty bad so I decided to design it myself. The photo in the poster I designed is copyright the respective owner, as well as the original poster.

More Hangtag Designs

Here are some more hangtags I've designed for Futurstate.

The Clothing Show

I designed the coupon and signage for the Futurstate booth at The Clothing Show in Toronto. I also helped with sales and set-up. It was a very cool experience to work behind the scenes and see what others were doing as well.

Futurstate Hangtags

I'm currently working on hangtags at my fashion internship. The hangtags are for a contemporary alternative line that emphasizes sophistication and high quality. Here are a handful of roughs I've designed so far.

Internship

I'm currently interning with Snoflake and Futurstate for the summer. Both are fashion brands and so far it's been an amazing experience and I feel like I'm learning something new every day.

I'm currently working on illustration, graphic art, and even fashion art from time-to-time. I've designed signage, posters, banners, buttons and I'm currently working on a new catalogue design.

I plan to post many of the designs I have come up with so far, but for now here is a recent illustration I've completed. It's my first fashion technical. There's still some tweaking to do, as well as the back, but it's been really fun to work on.

Tom Ford

So this was something random I sketched while taking breaks from an interpretive assignment I was working on over break. It is a quick sketch with photo reference of fashion designer/director Tom Ford. He's one of my inspirations and is someone I would really like to meet one day.

Anyway, I'm currently in the process of painting this sketch, and I should be putting some illustrations up shortly, as well.

In-Progress Digital Painting

UPDATE TIME!!! So, digital painting. I have decided to delve back into it in full force after practicing more traditional painting. Here is a small crop of a larger piece I'm currently working on. I'm trying to work out a few kinks and learn more techniques to paint hair.

Grand Times Under Water

I may have posted this before, but I didn't like the contrast much, so I fixed it up digital paint-style and now I'm satisfied with it so I'll post it (again?)

dreamscape

This was an assignment for Interpretive Illustration class. We were to illustrate the coffee sleeve for Terminal 1 at Pearson International Airport in Toronto. I really wanted to go narrative with this piece and create a dreamy and calming atmosphere as plane trips can be chaotic and rushed.

Fame Kills

Interpretive Illustration class assignment. We were to create a recipe and I chose "how to be Lady Gaga." I wanted to branch into pop culture, and it was interesting finding ways to incorporate what I wanted to into the piece.

The original project is a "recipe for disaster" and the other reason why I chose Lady Gaga is because I wanted to incorporate this in some way. She sings about the disadvantages of fame in some of her music and I thought the idea of "fame kills" was interesting so I chose to work around that.
