Overheard Conversation

This was my first Interpretive Illustration assignment of the year. We were to illustrate three or four lines from an overheard conversation. It sounded easy, but it really wasn't. I had a lot of fun with this project, though.

I chose to illustrate a conversation between a couple of H&M employees who were setting up a mannequin.

"She's not co-operating."
"Do her legs come off?"
"They're not really attached right now."
"What are you doing to this girl?"

From this conversation Silent Hill immediately came to my mind, and since I rarely illustrate in this kind of creepy/disturbing style, I really wanted to try my hand at it. I think it's strange how the majority of my work is the exact opposite of this style, and yet I love it so much, haha. I want to explore a darker style further.

A couple of pages from my new moleskine. I decided to buy one about a week ago. They're pretty expensive, but the paper is very think and takes paint really well. I'm going to use it for media exploration and do many illustrative studies. Hopefully some will become inspiration for larger pieces.

Here is an in-progress picture of one of the personal pieces I've been working on. I posted the sketch a while ago, but I've started painting it.

More Extra-Life Painting

Here is another acrylic & oil on 9" x 12" canvas that I did today. I'm really enjoying the extra-life painting sessions. They're really relaxing.

Second Year Paintings

Here are a couple of paintings from second year Painting class with Katherine. I learned so much from her classes last year, and I miss having classical painting classes. I'm going to try and go to extra-life painting often, though.

Both paintings are acrylic on canvas. The still-life measures 18" x 20" and the model painting measures 18" x 24"
